Help Tim Hammons Overcome Home Challenges and Cancer
Donation protected
Tim has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with mets to the brain, bones, and lymph nodes. This was a huge shock to the family as he had not been exhibiting many symptoms, and those he had were only present for the past few weeks. After many weeks in IU Methodist, completing radiation, Tim has transitioned back home to his dogs :-). At the same time, Tim has started up his chemo treatments.
The comforts of home have had their trade-offs. Everything has been more of a challenge at home: getting Tim cleaned up and dressed; keeping him motivated to work on getting stronger; transitioning from bed to wheelchair to walker to couch. Things that seemed to be set, no matter the planning, for transitioning home have proved to be more of a challenge - the bed is too high, the ramp was too steep, the shower bench didn't work for him.
Making matters worse, the periodic issues that come with home ownership chose the worst time to crop up. The home water heater is failing, and the primary shower decided to choose this weekend to leak through the kitchen ceiling. On top of these burdens (emotional, physical, financial), the family really needs to convert the only main floor full bath from tub to allow Tim easier access (which is ballpark $20k).
I know Tim and his family are loved by so many and are so appreciative of the support they have received. Many of you have asked how else you can help. It would be great to give them one less thing to worry about with some of the financial headaches they are facing so Tim and family can focus on his treatment and beating cancer. Plus it is Tim's birthday on May 4th - let's give him a great birthday gift!
I am sure most have visited Tim’s Caring Bridge site but sharing the link to get updates from the family on Tim’s treatment.
