I'm sure many of you have noticed Tim McCook's absence from Facebook in the past months. Tim is a devoted husband to Judy and father to Zoë, my dear friend of 17 years; a brilliant trivia buff; and the strongest fighter I've ever known.

23 years ago, he was diagnosed with NMOSD (neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder), an autoimmune disease that left him blind and paralyzed. Although he has been hospitalized with related infections many times over the years, he is currently facing his hardest battle since his diagnosis. He has been home with Judy and Zoë since Thursday the 27th. Before that, due to constant infection and bouts of pneumonia, he had not spent a single night at home since July.

Right now, home with his family is the best place for him to be. However, Judy and Zoë have their hands completely full maintaining the equipment that helps him breathe and eat.

Tim misses his community on Facebook and has asked that his friends be updated about the serious health issues he has been dealing with. I have asked Zoë's permission to share further updates on GoFundMe.... They are not comfortable asking for money, but personally, I do not want them to have to worry about anything other than being with Tim during this difficult time. Funds would be used for Kroger runs, food delivery, and hopefully, more frequent caregivers in addition to the family. Hospice is assisting in the daytime, but it's just Judy and Zoë all night. They are sleeping in shifts and exhausted.
