Help Tim Lawless Get His Voice Back!

Our beloved brother and friend, Tim Lawless, is in crisis after developing devastating complications from surgery in June. We all know how strong Tim is (he’s a Viking!), but he’s now in the fight of his life, and he desperately needs help.
A highly prolific and talented part of the Long Island music scene since the 1970s, Tim Lawless touched so many lives during his impressive career as a session singer, songwriter, producer, and bandleader. From his days as a background singer for multi-platinum recording artists such as Debbie Gibson and Darlene Love, to his decades-long stint as a leader and front man for countless popular NY Metro area wedding and cover bands, including being an original member of Long Island’s legendary Funk Filharmonik, Tim is known for his soulful vocals and charismatic stage presence. Most recently, Tim co-formed and promoted one of Long Islands best new tribute bands, Hourglass, a James Taylor band that even received high praise from JT himself on the band’s Facebook page. As a singer, Tim is second to none. But his voice has been silenced, and he needs your help to get it back.
In the beginning of June, Tim had major surgery. He anticipated a relatively easy few weeks of recovery at home, after which he expected to return to work. Unfortunately, that did not happen. While the surgery initially appeared to be successful, Tim soon developed life-threatening complications that landed him in the ICU, where he required long-term intubation. After many setbacks, additional serious complications, and three more surgeries, we almost lost him a few times in July. But finally, Tim turned a corner. After many weeks, he was finally taken off the ventilator. However, because of extreme physical de-conditioning, he required a tracheostomy. He is still on a trach, as of today.
While Tim is slowly improving, this experience has taken a major toll on him. He lost significant muscle tone. He can’t sit up on his own, can’t stand or walk, and can’t move his arms or use his hands. He struggles to talk. He has ongoing complications from his many surgeries and from being intubated for so long. He is 100% dependent on nursing care. After more than two months in the ICU, he has finally been moved to rehab, where he will now work on regaining his strength and voice, but he has a very difficult time ahead of him. He is expected to be in rehab for two to three months, maybe longer. He has been out of work since June, and will be unable to resume work for some time. He has no income, and his expenses are growing.
We are asking for help to cover Tim’s ongoing expenses and mounting medical bills. Any donation, even $5.00, will mean so much for Tim and his family. Tim’s whole life is music, and his doctors are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, which will enable him to return to his passion. But it will be a major challenge, and Tim faces a very long road ahead of him. Your support will help him reach the end of that road. Thank you for any support you are able to provide!
