My name is Chelsea Young, and my goal is to help my uncle, Tim Hyatt, receive enough funds to have a life-altering procedure on June 10, 2025. He has battled esophageal and lung cancer over the past few years. He received chemotherapy as well as radiation to fight the esophageal cancer, which is now in remission. His epiglottis, the flap that prevents food or liquid from entering the windpipe, was unfortunately destroyed during this process. He has been on a feeding tube, which restricts him from being able to eat or drink anything at all, for the past 2 and a half years. This is not only physically but also emotionally draining. The proposed plan is to have his voice box removed, also known as a laryngectomy. He will be in intensive care for one week if everything goes as planned after surgery. He will have a stoma placed allowing him to not only breathe better but to also be able to eat and drink freely for the first time in over two years.
