Help Tim Hornbuckle Recover from Fire
Donation protected
My name is Darrian, and I am raising money for my dear friends Tim and Sarah Hornbuckle. On January 27th, 2025, they experienced a grass field fire at their home and business, New Horizon Kennel. Tim was notified that the field had caught fire and instinctively jumped into action to mitigate damages. He got on his tractor and began to mow down the dried grass around the fire to help stop it from spreading. In his second pass, the wind rapidly and drastically changed direction, engulfing him on the tractor. He bailed and ran through the fiery field to escape it. As a result, Tim suffered 3rd degree burns on his right arm and elbow, and 2nd degree burns on his head, face, ear, wrist, hand and leg. He’s had one surgery and is awaiting U of I’s determination on future surgeries. It's a long road to hopefully a full recovery. The blessing is no staff, animal, or structure was harmed, only Tim and the tractor/mower he was using. With significant help from Meg Nitz (a client and friend of Tim, Sarah, and the New Horizon family), this fundraiser has been established in response to the outpouring of individuals who have asked for a platform such as this to help with the expenses of his injuries. I also work at New Horizon Kennel and have seen and heard the requests firsthand. The Hornbuckles have been greatly humbled by this community gesture. Funds received will be used toward emergency room expenses, ambulance transport to the University of Iowa’s Burn Unit, hospitalization in Iowa City, surgical costs, prescriptions, labs, medical supplies, occupational therapy, laser therapy, and travel to/from Iowa City. Thank you for your consideration. It’s been a difficult five weeks, but things are looking up! Thank you too for all the well wishes, cards, prayers, and meals along the journey – every single act was so appreciated by Tim and Sarah, and our team at New Horizon.
