Earlier this month, Tim Hemmis’ wife, Heidi, experienced a sudden medical emergency that required an ambulance transport, an emergency flight to Iowa City, and surgery to save her life. After several days, she was able to return home, but she soon suffered a second, far more severe stroke. The stroke left her right side paralyzed, and she had to be intubated when she could no longer breathe on her own.
Despite multiple attempts, medical staff were unable to remove the breathing tube successfully. Knowing Heidi’s wishes, Tim and their daughter made the heartbreaking decision not to pursue further life-sustaining measures, such as long-term ventilation or a feeding tube. They chose instead to let Heidi pass peacefully, in accordance with what she would have wanted.
Tim has been unable to work throughout this difficult month, and we hope to come together to support a member of our Convergint family during his time of profound loss. While we cannot ease the pain of losing Heidi, we can offer financial support to help lighten the burden he now faces.
