For 31 years Techniques In Motion School of Dance (TIM), has been proud to provide a safe and inspiring environment to help in the shaping of dynamic young people. We have been honored to serve the needs of thousands of Wilmington families in those years, trusted to become a second home for them, while fostering continued growth not just in dance, but in life itself. Thanks in large part to many of you, Techniques In Motion has blossomed into the vibrant dance community it is today! We have been dedicated to helping our dance families and the community as a whole in any way we can over those years and have seen how much can be accomplished when people come together to help. Working in the Arts is about passion, and the real rewards of spreading the love of the Arts are not monetary. Most who choose this path find themselves often on shoestring budgets and operating month to month; TIM is no different. Therefore, we find ourselves in a bit of a bind and I must share some challenges we are facing. Our beloved Tap room recently faced a significant challenge when the HVAC system needed to be replaced at a staggering cost of $13,000. Despite Ms. Terrie’s best efforts to seek assistance from the property owners, the landlord has not been responsive. The heat in that room reached dangerously high levels, affecting the health and safety of our dancers, and leaving us with no choice but to take on this financial burden to ensure our dancers have a safe, comfortable space to train. We’ve had a few “Angels” come through for us in creative ways to help secure the new HVAC, but in the spirit of the community, we’re launching a Go Fund Me campaign to help cover the remaining costs of this unexpected expense. Giving blessings is certainly easier than asking for them, but humility and requesting help when needed are also core beliefs we encourage in our young people. In that spirit we’re asking for your assistance.
