Fact: Type 1 Diabetes is less common than Type 2 - as in 5-10% of diabetic people have it.
It's True: No one knows what causes this auto-immune disease, and there's yet to be a cure for it.
Back story: At 11 years old, Tim was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Things have been relatively fine until June 2024, when he was discovered to be in total renal failure. Tim quickly began dialysis soon after the discovery. Since then, he has had two emergency surgeries, double pneumonia and peritonitis making him unable to return to work.
It's a love story: Tim met Vicki years ago when both worked for MedStar. Fast forward some years and their paths crossed again for good. They married 5 October, 2024. They have two kids: a 16 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. Besides sharing a love for the St. Louis Blues, Tim and Vicki also share a passion for helping people. Tim worked for Medstar for 20 years and 5 years for MODOT's roadside assistance. Vicki is a dispatcher for Monroe County, IL and has been dispatching for 18 years. She previously worked for Washington County and Clinton County.
HELP! Since Tim's recent health issues over the past 5 months has kept him from being able to maintain steady work hours, Tim and Vicki have been living off one income instead of two. At this stage, Tim is currently on the transplant list to receive a kidney and pancreas.
Hold On! We're Coming!! As family, friends, co-workers, generous acquaintances and strangers of Tim and Vicki's, it's time for us show up and give a helping hand. So, let's help out two civil servants who are always helping out other people!! We understand not everyone is capable of monetary assistance and to those we ask that any and all prayers are appreciated as well.
