Help Tim and Carol Rebuild After Hurricane

My name is Mike Searle and I have been friends with Tim and Carol since we were kids. I met Tim when I was 10, Carol came along 5 years later.

Many of you know that two years ago Tim and Carol accomplished their lifelong dream of living near the beach. Last night as Hurricane Helene passed, floodwaters devastated their home in the city of St. Pete Beach. Around 9PM flood waters quickly rose to over 3 feet inside their home. With furniture, appliances and debris floating in the home, they made the decision that it was safer to abandon the house and retreat to their trailered pontoon boat in the yard. They rode the storm out for the next seven hours in lifejackets with their dog and cat hunkered under the boat’s cover. Tim anchored the boat and tied it off where he could. The boat with trailer attached did float, but never broke it’s mooring. Tim has sent me pictures and it is my belief that the home and most belongings will be a total loss. Tim’s Jeep and their beloved golf cart were under saltwater for 7 hours.

Carol’s car was moved to higher ground at the safety of a Waffle House before the flood, so they do have one vehicle.

Although the home is insured, Tim and Carol will require tens of thousands of dollars to dig themselves out of this disaster. They will be without a home for many months.
