On 26 June 2026, Tilly and Jack were involved in a devastating car accident in Lampung, Indonesia.

While travelling back to the airport in a hotel-arranged transfer, the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a serious highway accident and was subsequently struck by a truck. What should have been the final leg of their adventure became the beginning of a long and difficult journey to recovery.

Tilly sustained life-changing injuries, including serious damage to her spine and arm, requiring emergency surgery. She now faces months of intensive rehabilitation and will be unable to work while she focuses on her recovery.

Jack was also seriously injured, suffering a concussion and a fractured shoulder. Although he is gradually recovering, he has taken on the role of Tilly's full-time carer, supporting her through every stage of her rehabilitation.

Although the accident happened overseas, they are now in Perth receiving ongoing medical care. They are unable to return home to Exmouth until Tilly's spinal injuries have healed sufficiently for her doctors to clear her to fly, which is expected to be another 6–8 weeks.

Alongside the enormous physical and emotional impact of the accident, they are now facing significant financial hardship. Despite having both travel insurance and private health insurance in Australia, many essential expenses are not fully covered. These include out-of-pocket medical costs, specialist appointments, rehabilitation, medications, and the everyday costs of living while they are unable to work. At the same time, they continue to pay rent and household bills for their home in Exmouth while being unable to live there.

They are also pursuing the appropriate legal and insurance claims arising from the accident, but these processes can take many months—and sometimes years—to resolve. In the meantime, they urgently need support to help cover ongoing medical treatment and everyday living expenses.

Funds raised will help cover:

• Medical expenses and hospital costs incurred during their recovery.

• Out-of-pocket medical expenses and hospital costs while insurance and legal claims are being resolved.

• Physiotherapy and specialist appointments

• Transport to and from medical appointments

• Daily living expenses while they are unable to work

• Any unforeseen medical costs that arise during their recovery
