My name is Tirhas Mitku. I’m originally from Ethiopia, and I am starting this fundraiser because I cannot stay silent while my people are starving in Tigray. I am planning to visit my family for the holiday, but there is no way I can enjoy that time knowing that people around me are crying, growing weaker, and dying from hunger. I cannot celebrate or stay silent while this suffering continues.

In Hitsats, Tigray, thousands of displaced people are slowly dying—not from active conflict today, but from hunger, lack of clean water, no access to medicine, and the absence of shelter. This is a silent crisis that is taking lives every day.

Children cry from hunger. Mothers watch helplessly as their children grow weaker with each passing day. Elders, too frail to survive without care, are collapsing one by one. People are suffering and dying quietly, forgotten by the world.

This is happening right now, in 2025—a time when no human being should die from hunger.

These are not just statistics. These are real human lives—fathers, mothers, children, and elders—each one deserving dignity, care, and the chance to live.

We cannot look away. We cannot remain silent. They need immediate and urgent help.

Every dollar raised through this fundraiser will be used to purchase urgent food and medical supplies. I will personally be on the ground to help ensure these essential needs reach those who need them most.
