Help Tiger Moon's Family After Wildfire

Hi everyone, my name is Maebellene Burge. Tiger Moon is my foster mom—she is a mother, grandmother, business owner, community gatherer and dear friend to so many in the Echo Park, Altadena, and greater LA. She and my family, like so many, have been displaced by the Eaton fire.

We moved over to Altadena in July of 2024, and were finally beginning to settle into our new home after leaving the chaos of downtown LA. As the owner of RAVEN things collected and RAVEN’S Gallery in Echo Park, Tiger has worked tirelessly to build community wherever she goes. Moreover, she has provided me and my foster sister a beautiful life after leaving unsafe homes when we were teenagers. At this time, we are a chosen family of 5 and our home was spared from this horrific fire, though it is not a home we own or a home we are guaranteed of being able to go back to, because of its location and the possible toxins it has endured. We are unsure of how long we will be unable to return to our home, and if we will be able to even live in it when we do.

We feel devastated even more so for our neighbors, our small family businesses that made us feel at home in the Altadena area. Our neighborhood is now a skeleton of the community that it was just even a week ago. Our deepest intention is to be there every step of the way to help our neighborhood. At this time, our lives are so uncertain. Currently, I am at a loss of what our future holds. My mom is struggling to provide for me and our main goal is to get assistance to help support me while we continue to make sense of this disaster as a family and community. I will be collecting these contributions and anything can help. We all greatly appreciate our community’s support and love.

Our end goal is to return back to Altadena in some form or another to be a stepping stone for our community to help. Thank you to everyone who has offered and given us support.
