Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Years! Just wanted to post a little update. I was able to get all my dental work done between the end of November and early December! Thank you all so, so much!! Your contributions made it possible for me to do so. ❤️ My mouth was pretty sore for a while but I am slowly starting feel better. The hospital has been working with insurance to get approval for surgery so things slowed down a bit during the month of December. I have tried to keep myself busy with designing for my Etsy store, and taking care of little things to prepare for surgery and recovery. Although it's been a slow few weeks, things are beginning to happen again. We have our first official surgery date scheduled! If all goes according to plan, it will be for later this month. I have a few final appointments to go to in preparation so things are starting to move forward! I am very ready to get through this and be healthy again. We urgently need your help for my sister, Tiffany, who is facing a critical health battle.

Tiffany was diagnosed with a serious congenital heart defect as a newborn and has already been through so much, including two open heart surgeries. She had been stable for the last fourteen years, but a couple months ago, she went to a routine cardiology visit and received the devastating news that she would need to have another open heart surgery. This time, instead of repairing her valve, they will have to fully replace it with either a tissue or mechanical valve.

The original timeline was within a year of that appointment, but the cardio-thoracic surgeon wants to proceed much sooner so that Tiffany will be strong enough to withstand the surgery and recovery process. As of now, she is expecting to have the open heart surgery before the end of the year, but that may be delayed depending on financial and health factors.

Due to the high risk dental problems pose to the heart and open heart surgery, Tiffany has to be cleared by the dentist before she is able to be placed on the surgery schedule. After being evaluated, there are several problems with her teeth that must be addressed before surgical clearance can be given.

While insurance will cover a good portion of the heart related medical expenses, there are other significant costs to consider as well, including dental work needed for surgery clearance, lost wages, gas for travel, hospital parking fees, meals to sustain her and our family during recovery, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Every contribution will make a meaningful impact, helping Tiffany and our family focus on her healing, rather than financial stress.

UPDATE FROM TIFFANY 7/23:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thank you all so much for thinking of me and my family during this time. I am so grateful for all of you. Today, my parents and I enjoyed some time away visiting Galveston. I've been busy going to doctor appointments and getting tests done in preparation for this surgery, so it's always nice to get a little time away. Next week I will be able to start getting the dental work done that is needed (thanks to all of you!) And hopefully soon after that we can get other decisions finalized and surgery scheduled! It has been a crazy few months and it has been hard knowing I have to do this again but I am very much looking forward to living life with a new heart valve!! Thank you all again ❤️ -Tiffany
