My name is Shannon and my family, friends, and I are starting this fundraiser on behalf of my son Tiernney. At just 29 years old and already struggling with both hemiplegic migraine and Crohn’s disease, he has been diagnosed with colon cancer. We’re aiming to raise enough money to cover both expected and unexpected costs during treatment and recovery.

A bit about my boy....

On days when his health allows, he is very active and enjoys dodgeball, kickboxing, and working out. He proved to be very smart at a very young age and has always had a wicked sense of humor. He loves gaming, and has a talent for drawing. He also likes feeding the neighborhood crows, and deeply adores his 3 cats—Bard, Baloo, and Rumble.

As of this writing on March 28th, he has just had a colectomy. Pathology will take a week to let us know if the cancer has spread or stayed local. Our understanding is that he will need several months to recover from surgery and treatment. Together with support from family and friends, every available resource is being pulled together, but it won’t be enough to manage the mounting medical expenses and loss of wages from employment. While his insurance helps, it falls far short of covering the full cost of what lies ahead and, of course, does not cover his rent and utilities. During this time, he will also need home health care support, and assistance with travel costs as we do not have a vehicle.
