Ticia Eaves is a fierce and strong advocate who has dedicated her life to protecting children. Currently a child protective services worker, and previously a foster care casework, Ticia suffered a medical emergency while on her honeymoon in Europe. While visiting Amsterdam, Ticia became ill and was rushed to the hospital. For the last month, Ticia has endured two major/life threatening surgeries, has fought sepsis, as well as a blood infection, was in the ICU for a week and a half, and has had her life forever altered. Although she has insurance, and also bought into a travel insurance policy, that insurance has declined to cover the cost of medically flying Ticia back to the United States. The insurance argued that returning Ticia to the United States was not medically necessary because she could continue receiving treatment in Amsterdam. Although she is receiving wonderful care, she is being treated in a foreign country that is non-English speaking and is not surrounded by her support network. Recovery from her illness is already challenging, but trying to recover in Amsterdam has been a complicating factor, financially and emotionally.

Because of this, Ticia and her wife have made the difficult decision to be medically cleared by the hospital in Amsterdam so that she can fly home on a commercial flight. Upon her arrival back in the United States, Ticia must present to a hospital emergency room in order to be re-admitted to continue receiving care. It goes without saying that this flight is extremely expensive, due to the type of seat Ticia needs and the locality she needs to fly into, and will be incredibly taxing on Ticia's health as she will be without the care that she needs in order to return home to New York.

Ticia is strong and she is determined. She is fighting to regain her health and only wants the opportunity to recover surrounded by her support circle. Her support people are respectfully asking for any help you can offer. This experience is extremely taxing financially due to the medical bills, costs associated with remaining in a foreign country for an extended period of time, cost of flights, loss of work, etc. Ticia has committed herself selflessly to protect the most vulnerable people in our community for countless years, and now it is our turn to protect her.
