Hello, my name is Tiauna-Trinity Smith, and I’m asking for help to restart my life after an incredibly difficult year.

Growing up as a ward of the state, my life has always come with challenges, but as a child, I at least had some support systems during the hardest times. Now, as an adult, I’m all I have. It’s taken me a long time to accept that I deserve help too, and even longer to find the courage to ask for it.

After moving into my first apartment in August, I unexpectedly lost my job, and despite applying to over 50 others, I haven’t been able to secure new employment. My rent has fallen behind, and I’m now facing eviction. The fear of losing my home has been overwhelming, and I’ve been doing everything I can to hold on.

On top of these financial struggles, I’m also grieving the loss of my nephew, who was tragically murdered by his father. Living in the same city where this happened has made it impossible to feel safe or at peace. I need a fresh start, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
