Hi, I'm Tiana
I recently had an exciting opportunity to move out of my family home with some friends.
In a day, I was packing my car and the trailer full of my beloved belongings. During that time, I had brought almost all of my belongings into the house. Unfortunately, some items were still in the process of being moved.
On Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, at 4:30 am, I missed several calls while sleeping.
Unknowingly, I woke up to start the day and get into my uni study.
When I walked outside to my car, I saw, in horror, that my car had been completely burned to a crisp, to rubble.
In shock, I was stunned, paralysed. I didn't know what was happening, why it happened, or who would do such a violent thing to someone. In that moment, I felt like a part of my life had been stolen and violated.
Among the things I lost were deeply personal and irreplaceable items:
• My powerlifting gym gear — something that connects me to a sport I love and train hard for. (and worth over $700)
• My Polaroid camera, along with family photos of my niece and nephew, were stored in the bag.
• Two pairs of prescription glasses.
• My handwritten flashcards for Uni, which I had spent the last 12 weeks writing for exam prep
• And the car itself — a car I had owned for 6 years, filled with memories from road trips, late-night drives, and major life moments.
• Along with many other personal belongings.
I’m not usually someone who asks for help, but this has left me emotionally and financially overwhelmed, as unfortunately, insurance will only cover 1/4 of the cost of my personal belongings.
If you’re in a position to donate — even a small amount — it would mean the world.
Every little bit helps me begin to replace what was lost and move forward from this awful experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for any support you can offer.
— Tiana
