Hello, my name is Kate. My kitty Tia is suffering from an acute kidney injury and needs your help.

She has had a very hard month. She was treated for hyperthyroidism with radioactive iodine at a local clinic at the end of December and was recovering safely at home after a week away. She was then sequestered from the rest of the family while she healed from the radiation.

It seemed as though everything was going well, but she suddenly stopped eating and became very lethargic last week. I took her to the emergency vet, only to find out that she was suffering from an acute toxic issue, possibly brought about by a poison.

Since she mostly stayed in a room by herself with short supervised visits in the rest of the apartment, we were beside ourselves trying to figure out what happened. Our only guess is that lily pollen from an old bouquet of flowers might have fallen on the floor. As it turns out, Lillies are extremely, extremely toxic to cats. Even a tiny amount can wreak havoc on their little bodies.

She has been my constant companion for 13 years. She has the energy of a kitten--playful, talkative, and the sweetest kitty on earth. She is now working through a dialysis treatment to cleanse her system and hopefully allow her kidneys to begin operating again. It's the only shot she has at recovery.

In addition to being devastated emotionally, the vet bills are piling up and coming at a terrible time for us--We have spent the last several months handling our own family medical issues.

She is in treatment for what could likely be two weeks. This money will help us pay for that, as well as the initial emergency veterinary treatment that diagnosed the issue. Everything helps, be it a donation or a prayer.
