Our sweet girl, Tia, has just come home after a three-day stay in the hospital, fighting for her life. She suffered a sudden, life-threatening uterine infection called Pyometra. Her uterus ruptured, requiring emergency surgery and intensive care. During surgery, the veterinary team also discovered several nodules on her spleen. While they did not appear cancerous, we were advised to follow up with our regular vet every three months to monitor them, which means ongoing medical care and expenses ahead. While we are relieved to have her home, Tia is still in a lot of pain and remains at great risk for infection and other complications. She is going home with a long list of medications: pain pills, blood clotting medication, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and something to help her appetite. She will likely need refills in the next week. Tia is still not eating much, and while the appetite medication has helped a little, she is weak and has lost a lot of weight. She is also at risk for dehydration, so the next week is crucial for her recovery. In ten days, she will need to have her stitches removed and her blood work redone to check for any lingering issues. We are still receiving bills for Tia’s care, so the total amount needed may change as we continue her treatment and follow-up visits. The financial strain from her emergency surgery, hospitalization, ongoing medications, follow-up care, and monitoring her spleen has been overwhelming. We have also had to take time off work and manage unexpected expenses while staying by her side. Tia is more than a pet — she is family. She has been our loyal companion, our comfort during hard times, and a constant source of love and joy. We are doing everything we can to give her the care she needs to heal and live a full, happy life. If you are able to contribute, share, or keep Tia in your thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of support helps ease the burden and allows us to focus on her recovery. Thank you for being part of Tia’s village.
