My mom, Tia has been officially diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer, she has an invasive ductal carcinoma in her left breast and a noninvasive ductal carcinoma in her right breast. What was first thought to be Stage 1 cancer in one breast turned into something more after multiple MRIs and biopsies. She is fighting everyday as we await a date for the breast removal in the coming weeks. I would just like to ask everyone to keep her in your prayers and send us strength to get through this phase in our lives.
My mom has always been so strong and a fighter, working everyday to support our family. She has touched the lives of so many people. If you have ever met my mom you know how sweet she is. She treats everyone with kindness and compassion. She worked 2 jobs every day to put me through school. She worked as a manager at Thainamite and a waitress at Screaming Tuna. Working 12 hour days was one of the hardest things to watch as her daughter. I have recently been able to begin supporting our monthly expense so she doesn’t have to work 12 hour days anymore, but it was due to her support that got me to the place I am today.
In order to win this fight against breast cancer. My mom has decided to go through with a double mastectomy. This was a really hard decision for her and our family. Mastectomy means all of the breast tissue and lymph nodes will be removed and that she will have no feeling left in her chest. This will allow her to not have to go through radiation therapy and chemo. Before her official diagnosis my mom has had to go through a mammogram, mammogram guided biopsy, a breast MRI, MRI guided breast biopsy, and countless other doctor visits. The money from this fundraiser and the other ones will be going to the cost of the mastectomy, the different diagnostic imaging tools that were used prior to her diagnosis, and the cost of the doctor visits.
The restaurants she has worked at have decided to do a fundraiser for her. Thainamite has recently annouced a fundraiser for my mom. They will be donating 20% of the proceeds made on Thursday December 26th at Thainamite Brady and Thainamite Tosa to help my mom’s fight. Also 100% of the proceeds from any Mai Tai ordered will be going to my mom. Screaming Tuna has also generously started a fundraiser where if you order a Toast to Tia, a 100% of the proceeds will go to treatment into battling cancer. The fundraiser will go from now until my mom’s birthday, January 1st 2020.
Some people have mentioned that they would like to donate but can’t make it to these two restaurants. So this Gofundme was made with that in mind.
