Help Through 8 Weeks of Healing

Hi Friends! It has taken a lot of courage and blows to my pride to ask for assistance right now.

I have a displaced fracture of my 5th metatarsal on my right foot (driving foot!) that requires surgery to put in a small plate and screws which is scheduled for this Tuesday the 16th. I will be laid up for 8 weeks and the doctor said it was crucial to keep my foot elevated the whole time. This is bad news because I am now out of work and not receiving any income. I won’t be able to return to work until the 2nd week in September.

I did apply for short term disability but im hearing that takes up to 3 months to process if I am even deemed eligible at all.

I have no clue how much to raise for medical bills, honestly. This will serve as an emergency fund and any amount above what is needed will be donated at the end of all of this. I don’t have any expectations and there is no harm, no foul if you do not donate. Everyone is going through their own stuff and I couldn’t be more understanding of that— believe me. It’s hard for any of us to keep our head above water.

I kinda want to throw up at the thought of doing this and I may delete this if the feeling persists. I’m not one to ask for help and I definitely feel like the least deserving person for even doing this. My driving force is to not spiral downwards when I was already just getting by.
