Storm Dennis: help those who helped others
Donation protected
As everyone is probably fully aware by now, storm Dennis has devastated residents and businesses all over South Wales. But during the devastating events we have seen the best in people, putting others first and helping those in need.
One of those amazing people is our friend, Fay. She woke in the early hours of the morning to water surging through her street and her house flooded. And what did she do? Fay, her next-door neighbour (John) and a stranded passer by (Nathan) waded through surging, waist-deep, ice-cold flood water to rescue their 87 year old neighbour (Margaret). Fay and John knew Margaret slept downstairs and would not be able to get upstairs to shelter. When they managed to get into the house they found Margaret unable to move from her armchair, surrounded by water. They got her upstairs and stayed with her until help arrived and they were evacuated.
They could have thought of themselves, spent the morning hours salvaging their possessions before the water levels rose more, stayed in the warmth until help arrived but instead they risked their lives to save their neighbour.
As friends of Fay's we know it's in her nature to help others (with her currently training to be a nurse) and we are so proud of her actions that morning. We have set up the GoFundMe campaign to help her through this tough time as she has to replace so many unsalvageable possessions and has a huge clean up process to make her home liveable again. So please help by donating what you can, anything is appreciated.
