Help those affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul

Porto Alegre is the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. They are currently experiencing the worst flooding disaster to ever hit the area. Current estimates suggest 155,000 people have been left homeless. The city of 1.3 million inhabitants has been almost totally cut off by the floods, resulting in an estimated 80% of its population not having access to running water. At least 95 people have died and more than 130 are still missing.

To make matters worse, there is more torrential rain forecast to hit in the coming days. They are in dire need of financial aid - for shelters, water, food, medical supplies - the list goes on.

I, Kane, decided today (Wednesday 8th May) that on Saturday 11th May, I will be attempt to complete a 5km run every hour for 10 hours. I have not trained for this. I am doing it to illustrate the desperation and urgency of the situation in Rio Grande do Sul. Admittedly, I run a bit, but I've only once run more than a half marathon and famously do not have the stomach (literally) for endurance events. This is going to be incredibly painful.

My girlfriend, Marie Paloma, is from Porto Alegre and used to be a doctor in the city. She is coordinating fundraising efforts with her friends who are in the city right now and volunteering on the frontline. They have identified the following charities that are having a direct and instant positive impact:

Please, if you can give anything at all, it will be hugely appreciated by all those who are suffering right now in Rio Grande do Sul.
