Thor was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter in Kansas City. He is emaciated (he has a 2 out of 9 body score) and has sores and an abscess on his feet, chest and legs. Nebraska Boston Terrier-French Bulldog Rescue offered to take him if the shelter wanted to release him. The shelter agreed because they are full and don't have the space to take care of a dog with long term medical needs. As soon as Thor was available for release we had a volunteer at the shelter to get him and start driving him toward Nebraska. He is now in the care of our veterinarian who is going to be fostering this boy for the duration of his time with us. He is going to be feeding him small, frequent meals to avoid "refeeding syndrome", address his poor skin condition and he has some wonky kidney values that we don't know if it is because of his current condition or because he had underlying kidney disease. He will have many blood draws in the future to gauge how his health is doing. Eventually, he will need to also be neutered and get a dental. Thor had his eye removed today so he is already feeling a bit better. Since Thor will be a long term foster resident, he needs some groceries to fatten him up and help with all his vet care. After whatever he has been through, Thor seems to be a gentle and sweet boy. He has already captured the hearts of his veterinarian and his staff. He is a warrior...help us help him fight to get healthy again.
