Help Thor Heal: Support His Recovery Journey

Hi, my name is Thor, sometimes referred to as Thor Thor, Bora Bora, Potato, or the Bestest Baby in the Whole World. Two weeks ago I was playing in the yard with my brother Loki, like I always do. We were running around when something sorta strange happened: I felt something sharp hit my leg. I went back to the door to see my Mom because her pets make everything better. When she saw me she looked very scared, she called some people, and we went for a car ride. The people at the vet gave me some
medicine that made me not feel any pain anymore and I took a nap. When I woke up I was feeling sorta funny. Now my Mom makes me wear this silly cone all the time and I have to sit in my cage a lot. But don’t worry - my non-furry siblings still make sure I get lots of love until I can feel better and run around and play again!
On a serious note, my name is Stacey, mom of Thor, an almost three year old Texas Heeler. Thor is the sweetest, toughest boy, and despite already undergoing two surgeries in attempts to repair his leg, he still only wants to give everyone kisses and get pets. We are unsure of how Thor became injured. To know us is to know we take great care of Thor and his brother so this injury was a shock to us all. Thor’s first surgery was unsuccessful due to the severity of the laceration. The vet referred to his injury as “de-gloving of the skin.” The skin that was left ultimately was not healing and died. Due to this, he had to undergo another surgery removing a large fist sized chunk of dead skin. The vet is now using wet bandages that cover the open wound, allowing time for it to heal, and in hopes of keeping him our four legged goofball. Thor is continuing his treatment and has daily vet visits to change his bandages and undergo laser treatments that the vet says he will continue to need for weeks to months depending on the healing process. He is on five separate round the clock medications for pain management and to fight off infections, as well as two ointments. Thor is still at risk of losing his leg if these treatments do not work and his leg does not heal properly.
I am humbling asking for donations to keep allowing Thor to undergo his treatments and medications to save his leg. We have already spent thousands on his two surgeries. His required daily vet visits for bandage changes and laser treatments cost $50. According to the vet, these daily visits could last months. We will need to continue medication to keep his pain managed and avoid infection. Thor is still in great spirits despite his injuries and deserves the very best to help him get better and to save his leg!
Thank you for taking the time to read. If you can, please donate to help Thor with his treatments or please share <3
