Help Thomas (Chad) Heal After Tragic Injury

Thomas, also known as Chad, is a sweet cat who has been part of the colony my neighbor Gabby and I have cared for over the past two years. Our journey with these cats began when a mama cat named Lindsay had her first litter in Gabby’s shed, and since then, we’ve been dedicated to feeding, trapping, and TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) for the colony. Thomas/Chad added two litters to our group before we finally managed to catch her and have her spayed. Throughout this time, she’s shown herself to be incredibly friendly, earning a few different names before we realized she was female.

Today, our hearts broke when we discovered that someone had shot Thomas/Chad, shattering her left hind leg. It’s hard to believe this could happen in our peaceful neighborhood, where the colony mostly stays between our homes and garages. The vet has diagnosed her injury and recommended an amputation, explaining that with this surgery, Thomas/Chad can still have a good quality of life. Gabby has stepped up to bring her in as an indoor cat and provide the care she’ll need during her recovery.

The cost of the surgery and aftercare is more than we ever expected to face. We never imagined that our efforts to help these cats would lead to financing emergency surgery due to human violence. Any support to help offset these unexpected costs would mean the world to us and ensure Thomas/Chad gets the second chance she deserves.
