Help Thomas Save His Home of 20 Years
My name is Thomas Schessler, and I'm reaching out for urgent help to save my home in Redmond. This condo has been my sanctuary since 2006, first as a renter and then as the proud owner since 2016. I've always been diligent with my payments, never missing one until an unforeseen challenge hit in 2020.
Like many, I was laid off during the 2020 lockdown. The good news is that I've since secured stable employment, and I've worked tirelessly to catch up on my mortgage, debts, and bills. Everything is now current – except for an ongoing, frustrating battle with my Homeowners Association (HOA).
Facing Foreclosure Due to Unresolved HOA Dues
Since 2020, I've been in a continuous struggle with my HOA to resolve outstanding dues. Despite my efforts, including filing for bankruptcy in 2024, they've refused to offer a reasonable repayment plan. This difficult situation has now escalated dramatically.
Last month, I received a devastating notice: my home is scheduled to be sold at a sheriff's auction on June 20, 2025.
I've exhausted every avenue imaginable in the past few weeks – desperately trying to hire a lawyer, working with the Home Assistance Fund (HAF), and attempting to settle this debt directly. Unfortunately, securing legal representation requires a $10,000 retainer, which is simply out of reach given the immediate deadline. The Property Management company is uncooperative and has refused to postpone the sale, even with the HAF's involvement.
A Steep Price to Pay for Speaking Out
The root of this aggressive action by the Property Management company seems to stem from my past concerns about their exorbitant $750/month HOA fees and what I perceived as a misuse of funds. It feels as though they now want me out.
I urgently need to raise $35,000 to cover the accumulated interest and legal fees before June 20th. This is the only way to stop the auction and prevent the loss of the home I've lived in for nearly two decades.
Please, if you can contribute anything at all, you'll be directly helping me keep my home. Every dollar brings me closer to this critical goal. Thank you for your kindness and support during this incredibly challenging time.
Sincerely,
Thomas Gerard Schessler III
If we reach the goal to pay off the sheriff's office they will all go to that. If we are over, or under, they will go to hiring a lawyer to join the other owners to remove the Property Management Company and recover losses.
