Since moving to Washington Parish in 2023, I've faced constant challenges getting to my medical appointments in Covington. The local transportation options don't reach my area, and Medicaid transportation has repeatedly canceled on me at the last minute because they don't have a wheelchair accessible van available. There have even been times when they tried to send an Uber, despite knowing I need a vehicle that can accommodate my wheelchair. As a result, I've had to rely on friends from Mississippi to help me get to my appointments, which is not always possible and adds a lot of stress to an already difficult situation.

Having reliable, accessible transportation would make a world of difference for me. If I could modify my truck to be wheelchair accessible, I would be able to drive myself to and from my appointments without having to depend on others or worry about last-minute cancellations. Not only would this give me more independence, but it would also allow me to help others in my community who are facing the same transportation barriers. I know firsthand how isolating and frustrating it can be, and I want to be there for others who need a ride.
