Help Thomas & Family During his Recovery

Hi my name is Nicki Graham and I have started this gofundme to with the medical expenses for my cousin Thomas Berard and his family. Thomas and his family were in a horrific car accident on September 25th 2021. This accident left Thomas with a compound femur fracture, with multiple complete fracture along the bone, shatter unstable femur fracture, facial and nasal fractures, tongue laceration, femoral vein and nerve injuries, and has since suffered multiple complications from the multiple surgeries he has had since the accident including a pulmonary embolism, that we are blessed was found in time. His partner Jasmine suffered a (thankfully stable) lumbar vertebrae fracture, that was missed at the first hospital and luckily found when the NICU team noticed her decreased mobility and increased pain while she was there with their daughter. Jasmine and Thomas' 3 week old daughter Lilly had internal bleeding and inter-cranial bleeds that required multiple interventions and a stay in the NICU and an emergency transport to another hospital. And finally, Liam, their 7 year, luckily was mostly unharmed aside from the emotional trauma and some cuts and bruising.

We are all extremely thankful for all the medical care that was administered and to everyone involved in quite literally saving their lives. As some of you may know, the cost associated with the amount of medical care that is required and the length of a hospital stay that Thomas has a head of him can be all consuming. Thomas was the main provider for his family, and as a construction worker, he is likely to be out of work for a very long time. They also lost the only vehicle the family had. Jasmine will be unable to work full time due to needing to care for their daughter Lilly and supporting Thomas in his recovery.

Thomas is an extremely dedicated father and has before rebuilt himself to be the best man and father he could be, and I know he will be able to do so again. We are asking for donations to help relieve the financial burden placed on the family and to allow Thomas to focus on getting better and healing. All the money raised will be used to pay medical bills and make accommodations to the home in order for Thomas to be successful in the transition when he is eventually released from the hospital and care facility, (refitting doors to allow room for a wheelchair, building ramps for entry to and from the house, setting up a new area for his hospital style bed and any associated equipment), family living expenses while unable to work (paying for health insurance premiums, rent/utilities), and if possible going toward purchasing a vehicle that will fit a wheelchair and 2 car seats.
