I am starting this GoFundMe for the most one-of-a-kind and incredible person I have met in my life: Thom Stansberry. If you know Thom, I know you feel the same way. We are lucky to be on this planet at the same time as him. He is energetic and enthusiastic, his heart knows no bounds, and he has the unique capacity to make friends with anyone and everyone.

In May, Thom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer after the discovery of a tumor in his esophagus. Thom has faced his diagnosis with incredible strength, energy, and resolve to fight and win. He wants to get back to hosting wine dinners, spending time with family and friends, and working (we all know how passionate Thom is about his job bartending at Plank Provisions and acting as Flagship Ambassador Extraordinaire). We need to get Thom healed as fast as possible because let’s be honest, WE need Thom in our lives doing all these things again as soon as possible.

Thom has been undergoing chemotherapy, immune therapy, and radiation therapy at Nebraska Cancer Center and Methodist Hospital in the months since his diagnosis. The treatment schedule is rigorous and hard on his mind and body, rendering him unable to work since his diagnosis. He has been incredibly brave in spite of this, but the reality of the situation is that he does need our help.

Thom is the sort of person who would give his last penny to someone else who needs it more. He is an amazing friend, an amazing coworker, an amazing family member, and an icon of our community.
