My name is Thom Horton, and I’m reaching out in desperation.
I’m currently living in California and on the brink of losing my home. Four years ago, I lost my wife in Florida, and since then, life has been a constant struggle. We had no savings, and I’ve been trying to stay afloat ever since.
Until last week, I had $6,000 saved to cover rent and basic living expenses while searching for a job. Then I fell victim to what I now know was an online scam. It seemed like a legitimate opportunity — I made over $700 in two days — but then they pressured me to invest more money to keep going. When I couldn't, everything stopped. I lost nearly everything.
Now, I have almost nothing left, and my rent is due immediately. If I can’t come up with funds this week, I will be evicted. I’m doing everything I can to find work, but I need help right now just to survive.
I’m not asking for luxuries — just enough to stay off the street, to keep a roof over my head, and to buy food while I get back on my feet. Please, if you can spare anything, it would mean the world to me.
Every dollar, every share, every act of kindness counts. I’ve never had to ask for help like this before, but I have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for reading — and thank you for caring.
