Help Thnyia Lacue Attend Alabama State University

My name is Thnyia Lacue, and I am a proud senior at Northeast High School. For the past four years, I have been a dancer with the Northeast Hurricane Marching Band, a place that has shaped me, challenged me, and allowed me to grow into the young woman I am today. Dance has always been more than movement for me — it is the language I use to express emotion, the space where I feel most understood, and the stage where I feel most at home. When I dance, I feel aligned with my purpose.

Growing up, I always dreamed of being the first in my family to attend and graduate from a four‑year university. That dream led me to set my sights on Alabama State University, where I plan to major in Financial Accounting and eventually earn the highest degree possible in the field. My goal is to use my education to build financial stability for myself and my future, and one day open my own dance studio — a space where women can feel safe, empowered, and free to embrace their authentic femininity. I want dance to continue being a force that brings people together, not apart.

This year, however, my journey took an unexpected turn. On March 25th, 2026, just before I had the chance to try out for the ASU Stingettes, I suffered a major injury and tore my ACL. On April 10th, 2026, I underwent ACL reconstruction and a partial meniscectomy. Because of this, I won’t be able to continue training in my craft for at least a year — a reality that has been emotionally and physically challenging. On top of recovery, the financial responsibility of attending an out‑of‑state university has become even more difficult. I have applied for scholarship after scholarship, often receiving no response or no award at all. Still, every day, I choose to believe that effort, faith, and consistency will open the doors meant for me.

That is why I created this GoFundMe — not just to help cover the cost of attending college, but to prove to myself that when life gets hard, you don’t give up. There is always a way forward, even if you have to search for it, build it, or ask for help along the journey. I am deeply grateful for every person who has supported me — whether through encouragement, advice, or resources. And I am equally grateful for those who haven’t been able to help, because their presence in my journey still pushes me to work harder. Every gesture, big or small, contributes to the foundation I am building for the rest of my life. My story is still unfolding, but I am committed to rising, healing, learning, and achieving everything I’ve set my heart on. Thank you for being part of the path that leads me there. PS—If you are wondering, the funds will cover tuition, board, books, food, and any other absolute university necessities.
