Help this Trans Couple Relocate

My name is Bianca, and this is my story as to why I am seeking relocation to another state. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my partner (Raven) and me.

My partner is a disabled veteran with dysautonomia (along with many other conditions). Dysautonomia is a nervous system disorder that disrupts autonomic body processes. These are automatic functions like your blood pressure and heart rate. Having dysautonomia means these functions don’t work properly, causing disruptive symptoms as well as a weakened immune system.

Because of where we live, in East TN, we have been unable to find a doctor that specializes in the care that she needs. We have a desire to move to Rochester, NY to have closer access to the Mayo Clinic, as well as a more diverse group of specialists that live in the area.

I am also currently in medical debt. Last year, I was diagnosed with an acute case of diverticulitis. Because of subsequent stays at the hospital based on this, I currently owe our local healthcare conglomerate, Ballad Health, thousands of dollars.

Due to my partner's disability, she is unable to keep secure employment. She has disability pay through the VA, but it only covers 60% of her needs. I am currently employed with a non-profit organization, and we have been struggling for over the past year to be able to save up enough money to relocate to another state. Recent hospital trips, a colonoscopy, and personal sickness have led me to a path of lost income, lost PTO benefits, as well as ongoing costs due to this and other health concerns that I am having to address.

Other than pressing health concerns, we are also both trans women. For the past several years, we have lived in a hostile red state that is bent on trampling upon the human rights of the trans community. We are in a state which targets our community in the following ways:

1. Laws which target access to public restrooms and other public facilities, such as locker rooms in gyms. (Please see Business Bathroom Sign Law)

2. Laws that openly target individuals who do not conform to so-called gender norms, such as the "drag ban" bill that became a law and was upheld in 2023-2024. Laws like this make this state unsafe for my partner and me to live in, as this same law can be interpreted to harass trans individuals based on the way that they present themselves in public.)

3. Future attacks on trans rights. There are currently 30 active bills in the State of TN that seek to ban and violate the rights of the transgender community. You can learn more about it here on this link: https://translegislation.com/bills/2025/TN

As a summary, we have not felt safe living in this state since the November 2024 election results. At a federal level, we have seen unprecedented attacks against the LGBTQIA+ community, and red states like TN are the forerunners and primary legislators of these assaults on our rights at the state level. Due to this, we are seeking refuge in another state that aims to protect our rights and to get access to the healthcare that my partner and I need for our well-being.

We are currently seeking to raise $8000.00 for this cause. This money will be used for the move, as well as being able to find a place to live. We will need this for rent deposit, utilities deposit, groceries, and supplies for the move. We will also need some padding for the future, as I will also have to find a different job than what I do now that can accommodate my ongoing health conditions, as well as find a livable wage to take care of my partner's needs while she is seeking care.
