A couple weeks ago, this handsome fellow started visiting my house in hopes of a nightly portion of crunchies, and he’d stay a while to stare longingly at my cats through the window. I always tried to get near him, but could never get close enough to pet him! With the cold weather coming in, I’ve been so worried about him. The problem: I can’t bring him in with my cats since his health hasn’t been cleared with the vet, and he isn’t neutered/vaccinated! I also don’t have a basement or a heated garage. So I hatched a plan to create a warm space in my garage to house him through the weather, and to trap him with my live trap! I got to work, put up some light insulation, a heat lamp, a heated water bowl, and a heated cat house. And I set my trap and waited. Sure enough, he came for his nightly visit, and much to my relief I didn’t even need my trap! Not only did he let me PET him, he let me pick him up and run him into in the garage! It’s like he knew and was READY to be taken to a warm, safe space. Now that he’s safe, the next steps are getting him neutered, vaccinated, tested, and treated by the vet (he definitely has a skin condition that needs treated).
