Help This Special Needs Mom Replace Her Car

Donation protected

On May 27 my daughter and I were in a car accident. Luckily we escaped with only minor injuries, but our beloved Silver Streak (aka 2005 Honda Accord) was totaled. Now we're left with no transportation . Since we were both transported to the hospital I didn't get the chance to see the damage, but when my boyfriend went to retrieve our belongings from the car he said we were lucky to be alive.

My daughter has a developmental disability due to a brain injury at birth. I have been disabled since 2013. Besides having multiple herniated discs and spinal stenosis, I went years being treated for fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and told it was all in my head before finally being diagnosed with Lyme Disease earlier this year. Our journey has been a difficult one. Being a special needs mom is challenging on a good day and the bad days can bring you to your knees. Trying to cope with the awesome responsibility of raising a special needs child while being sick has been the hardest thing I've ever done. I've  struggled financially with overwhelming medical debt while striving to provide my daughter with every resource she needs to thrive in this world, many of which aren't covered by insurance. But then the recent stimulus I received allowed me to pay off my medical bills and all my past due balances. I could breath for the first time in a long time. Not having a car payment was one of the reasons we were keeping our heads above water. Then CRASH .

So that's why I'm here. It's unclear how much I will receive from the payout on my car. Even though it probably would have given us another 100,000 miles, with a $1000 deductible I will be lucky to get a couple thousand for a down payment. The more I can put down the lower my payment will be and that's going to be crucial for us being able to make it. Right now I just feel devastated and defeated. I was working on getting my credit repaired (because of medical bills) so I can get a bigger home. My mom is 85 and can't live on her own anymore. We lost my dad and my sister last year and it almost broke her. That will have to wait now. The most important thing is getting safe, reliable transportation so I can continue to make this life the best it can be for my daughter. But I need some help .

Thank you for reading my story ❤️
