My friend Brandi tragically lost her fiancé, business partner, and best friend Nov 13, 2023. Only 43 years old, Garrett Weber was murdered outside of their home on Simonton Lake while trying to fix their daughters bicycle. His killer has yet to be found.
Garrett and Brandi owned and operated Gator's Tree Service out of Elkhart, IN for the past 4 1/2 years and help out anyone they possibly could. Often times supplying wood to those that couldn't afford to heat their homes, taking sandwiches to those that sleep under bridges, and opening their home so others could eat a hot meal. They have 6 kids, 2 19 year old daughters, 14 and 9 year old sons, and twin 7 year old daughters. Three were home at the time he was murdered. All of their dreams were shattered that day as Brandi witnessed him being shot right outside their door.
Their house of 16 years left riddled with bullet holes through it, their minds left tormented with what they experienced that night, each day has came with a new challenge. All of their equipment to run their business was taken and can not be found, they struggle to receive any financial support as you can't get a police report with an open investigation, they are too scared to return to the house. She tries to pack up their belongings to sell the house, but once nightfall comes she starts to panic and shake. The kids just started feeling comfortable again to go out for recess. Their 14 year old that called 911 that night is still too scared to walk home from school, and the list goes on.
This tragedy has not only stole their loved ones life but has effected them all tremendously in every way possible. They will have ongoing therapy, lawyer bills, moving expenses, etc. and we would like to help them.
This family never asks for anything! The twins said all they want for Christmas is the guy that killed their daddy to go to jail so they can give him a piece of their minds. We may not be able to give them that, but we can give them love and support and help lessen the burden on this now single mothers shoulders.
While she fights in court to get their equipment back so she can continue to run the business they worked so hard for, and provide and care for these children that have experienced the unimaginable, all while trying to hold herself together I would like to ask each of you to help lift them up. Positive thoughts and words, prayers, lending a hand, or being able to send some money to assist them in their days to come. Anything and everything is much appreciated.
Their goal right now is to get the house empty and sold, as they have found a home that the kids LOVE in hopes to feel some kind of "normal" back in their lives. Let's help her cover what she falls short on in being able to get this home (which Garrett and her had wanted to purchase over a year ago but was quickly taken off the market) so that this family can feel safe again and start the healing process for them all.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer this family.
