Heya my name is Kristie and I’m trying to raise some money to assist my Uncles Michael and Craig and their disabled son Dylan with the massive clean up and repair of their home in Lismore.

My Uncles are incredibly selfless and are constantly giving their all to assist the community and help others.

You would think they would deserve a bit of good Karma (I’m hoping this might be it!!)

They adopted their now adult son, Dylan at a young age. Taking upon all the challenges of a significantly disabled child and that continues now even now for Dylan as a young adult.

A few years ago, council roadworks destroyed their home (the first time) with their heavy trucks and earthmoving equipment with no regard to the damage to the surrounding properties. The house was completely unlivable.

BUT… they pulled it together (somehow!!) and rebuilt the best they could.

They managed to get an above ground pool in, which is an integral part of Dylan’s rehab and even part of his sensory coping mechanism.

It collapsed and had to be removed.

I reached out within the wonderful Lismore community to try to get some sort of pool back for Dylan. Several local businesses came together with a promise to help.

As hard as we tried, that unfortunately fell thru

The biggest hit by far came a couple of years ago when my Uncle Michael was diagnosed with Cancer.

He’s just gone thru rigorous Chemotherapy and radiation treatments and all the sickness, weaknesses and mental health issues associated with that insidious disease.

Now they’ve lost everything once again as their house was completely engulfed by flowing water on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There’s a whole “rest of the house” under that water in that photo!!

And now they must clean up and rebuild AGAIN!

With limited income due to cancer treatments and medications and the ongoing care for Dylan… they’re in struggle town and it absolutely breaks my heart that they just can’t catch a break.

My Uncle Michael protects the bird nests in the reserves around the area for crying out loud!! They care for everyone!!

Throughout all of their trials and challenges, they continue to open their heart to their families and their community and I’m really hoping that we can show them that the years of kindness and crappy luck can be repaid by helping them in this absolute time of need.

It doesn’t matter how big… if you have a little spare, this beautiful family could really use your help.

I know they will pull it together. I know they will find it within (like they have every other time!!) to battle on. But fixes like these don’t grow on trees.
