My name is Hailey Brittain, and I have the honor of being both a family friend and volunteer caregiver for an extraordinary family facing unimaginable challenges. They are loving, devoted parents to three incredible children—two boys who have both been diagnosed with IQSEC2, an ultra-rare genetic disorder, and a wonderful daughter who is neurotypical.

What is IQSEC2?

IQSEC2 is a devastating disorder that affects brain development, causing severe intellectual disabilities, epilepsy, mobility challenges, and profound developmental delays. Both boys are wheelchair-dependent and require around-the-clock medical care, therapy, and specialized equipment just to navigate daily life.

Why They Need Our Help

This family has poured their hearts, souls, and finances into ensuring their boys get the best care possible while also providing love, stability, and support for their daughter, who adores her brothers and brings so much joy to their lives. One of their most pressing financial needs is paying off their wheelchair-accessible Sprinter van—their only means of safely transporting their sons to medical appointments and the simple outings that bring them joy.

Their home is filled with essential medical equipment—doubled to meet the needs of both boys. Currently, their youngest son’s bedroom is in the basement, and while they can still carry him upstairs, this will soon become unmanageable. Within the next two to three years, they will need a new home that accommodates the boys’ growing medical and accessibility needs.
