Help this humble family rebuild their lives.

Please read: this is not a copy and paste post. This is from the heart. My birthday is coming up this month and I see people often share fundraisers for their birthdays. Instead of choosing a non-profit I would really like to try my best to help my friends and their family going through the worst possible time right now.
When most people hear COVID the immediate thought is hospital stays, ventilators, medications, etc.
When we learn patients have recovered enough to go home a lot of people don’t think of the aftermath. Damaged lungs, long term kidney problems leading to dialysis, chronic oxygen requirements, physical therapy, occupational therapy, weekly clinic visits for testing and follow up, re-arranging the home so it can be easily navigated by the patient now that they likely have to use a walker and/or a wheel chair (just to name a few).
Aside from that the change in family dynamics is probably not thought of after what everyone in that family has and is still going through: the stress, the unknown, the frustration, the sacrifice.
Lastly, the unmeasurable amount of burden that is the cost medical facilities put on one life; an impossible burden at that.
You may have noticed I set this goal for 1 million dollars. Sadly, if this goal was somehow met, it still would not cover all of their bill. However, anything that can be raised will take a little less of a burden off of this amazing family. To learn more about Mike (the patient) and his family I will post links to news programs they have been on but first let me share a story about Kari (Mike’s wife) that didn’t make the news, it is short and sweet: one day she received a phone call that she needed to get back to Mike’s beside right away. She quickly finished what she was doing and headed over there. While stopped at a light she pulled out the project she was working on and handed it to a homeless man; a packed bag lunch. Need I say more?
please, please consider donating. If you can’t share the heck out of this link. This family deserves this and so much more. They have been through so much.
when I was 15 I didn’t realize I needed the community around me but I did and they came through. Because of that I was able to go through college and obtain my BSN and continue to fight more my dreams of flight nursing. Please be the reason Karie, Mike, and their children continue to fight. Please help me show them there is still good in the world.
if you have read this far thank you so much for your time. Please consider donating and/or passing the message. Pass it more than once. Give it a share everyday or two. Whatever it takes. I know there are still good people in this world and we can at least try to do a little something to help.
