Help Our LGBTQ Family Move to Safety

Hi!! My name is Aeon (or Ducky), and I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart.

I was born and raised in Michigan, and recently married my husband — a Canadian citizen. Together with our amazing son, we’ve come to a difficult decision: we need to relocate to Canada for our safety, stability, and health.

Our family is part of the LGBTQ+ community. My husband is transgender and an immigrant. I’m genderfluid, and our son is gay. The rising political unrest, cuts to social assistance, and our limited access to healthcare in the U.S. make it increasingly unsafe — and unsustainable — for us to continue as we have been.

Both my husband and I live with chronic health conditions (Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis), which only adds to the urgency. After years in an abusive relationship, I’ve been unable to return to steady work despite applying everywhere. We’ve been doing everything we can — job hunting, selling what little we own that is worth any money, and saving every penny — but it’s not enough.

That’s why we’re asking for help.

Funds raised will go toward:

Moving and travel expenses

Temporary food and lodging when we arrive

Medication and emergency supplies

Anything left over will be donated to another family in need — because we believe in paying kindness forward.
