My name is Jay - I am the executive chef/owner of THICC Burger (@thiccburgers) - an old-fashioned burger joint in Atlanta. What began as a hobby and way to navigate the pandemic in early 2020 has turned into something bigger than I could have ever imagined!

Our mission at THICC is to create a SAFE, INCLUSIVE space for folx who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum to eat, engage and build community. For the past year, we have partnered with numerous breweries around Atlanta and the U.S., creating unique relationships that focus on inclusion while helping to bridge the gap between the alternative communities we service and the generally white spaces where we often feel out of place.

What’s next for THICC and how you can help:

A BRICK AND MORTAR! We are growing so fast! It's time for us to securely plant our roots in Atlanta, which means a brick-and-mortar restaurant. A place for Black and other people of color in the LGBTQIA+ community to eat, drink and engage safely and freely in a space built just for them.

 

If you have followed me or THICC on social media for a while, you know how deeply I feel about this food journey I’ve been on and the passion I have for placemaking, food justice and creating safe spaces for the communities I am a part of and serve. These past two years of popping up at other people's kitchens, breweries and businesses have been great, but it's time for a place of our own. A place where we can do what we want, exactly how we want, for folx who want to be in spaces that are for them.

Your donations will help me bridge the gap between where I am now and where I know I can be if given the tools and opportunity to take things further. I am continuously doing the work and stretching my efforts as far as possible because I believe in this, and I hope you all are open to helping me get there. I don’t plan on stopping any time soon!
