On July 17th, while stopped at a red light, I noticed a group of construction workers gathered around a stalled vehicle. Then I heard the sounds of kittens crying. The construction workers had uncovered 4 two-week old kittens near their supplies! The kittens were so small they fit in the construction workers' hard hats, nestled under the safety vests. The day was easily over 95F here in Georgia and the workers told me they'd only be able to get the kittens to a shelter at the end of their shift. I've fostered kittens before, and that knowledge was enough for them to hand them over, with the only thing I had on hand: a large McDonald's bag.
After a quick checkup, the vet determined that the kittens were unusually healthy and clean, so it is most likely that they were dumped at the construction site by someone.
Unfortunately, I have contacted every kitten rescue and shelter in my area, but I have not heard back from any of them (I even went in person to a local Petsmart affiliated with a rescue). I want to make sure that these kittens are being taken care of, so I have created this GoFundMe to try and allay some of those costs. They will need vaccines, more formula and kitten food, litter, as well as future spaying and neutering (in about three months). Any and all help is greatly appreciated! These babies deserve the best after their rough start!
