Help Theron Restart his Life
On 05-07-21, our dad Theron Briggs was in a major car accident in which he sustained life threatening injuries and spent two weeks in the ICU. There were numerous internal injuries to his stomach which required several abdominal surgeries. He broke his back in several places which also required surgery, with more spinal operations to come. This is on top of the many fractures and injuries sustained to his wrists, feet, collar bone, and other areas. He is unable to walk at the moment, and while doctors are cautiously optimistic that he will be able to walk again with assistance, nothing is guaranteed. There will be many more surgeries and extensive therapies to come.

Prior to this Theron Briggs was an incredibly successful, independent, and happy man. He is an Air-force veteran of 21 years, and has worked in the medical profession for over 30 years. Theron was a single dad and put three kids through college, all on his own. He has been our rock, and is where our determination, intelligence, ferocity, and silliness come from. It's terrifying seeing the man you once saw as unshakeable in such a broken and difficult position. This has been an extremely traumatic situation for all family members involved, and we want nothing but for our father to be able to live the independent, peaceful life that he so cherished. He has defeated so many odds in life: homelessness, poverty, racism, and all the difficulties of being a single parent. We know he can persevere through this, but we need help getting him there.
How You Can Help
While the initial shock has somewhat worn off, we are now faced with the reality of the financial situation. As we help him adjust to these new circumstances, we humbly ask for your assistance to raise $20,000 to aid Theron in starting his new life. We need help paying for his medical expenses, rehab and therapy expenses, as well as the costs to find suitable living arrangements to accommodate his new medical needs. These costs are immensely difficult to carry alone, and insurance can only help so much. This number is a vague estimate of what we believe the costs will be. The situation is ever evolving and we expect the costs to continue rising.

Costs
Here is a tentative breakdown of where the funds would be distributed (subject to change as needed):
Surgery expenses : ~$9,000
Physical therapy: ~$4,000
Living expenses: ~$3,000
Medical supplies and wheelchair: ~$3,000
Transportation/Existing Car Payment: ~1,000
We also need all of the prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes that we can get. Any and all help is appreciated more than words can say.
**Theron has asked that we do not share any pictures of how he looks after his accident. He is still adjusting to this painful rewrite of his life and does not want to be seen in this incredibly vulnerable and upsetting state. Thank you for your understanding.
