On April 15, 2024, our world turned upside down when our wonderful mother, Theresa, mom of 7 children, 6 grandchildren and a devoted wife to Mark Maret, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. By the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had spread to her lungs, lymph nodes, and bones.

Theresa is fighting this awful disease every step of the way. She is strong beyond measure, and her courage is inspiring to all who know and love her. Over the past 10 months of treatment, Theresa has been undergoing chemotherapy, infusions, and numerous tests, including a variety of biopsies, MRIs and PET scans. Her cancer is entirely inoperable. According to her doctors, Theresa will never be cancer free, and will have to continue treatment for the rest of her life.

As you all know, cancer treatment is very expensive, even with insurance. So far, the medical expenses have drained Theresa and Mark's savings and depleted a large portion of their retirement funds. For reference, a 3-week supply of chemo is $19,000 and a single PET scan is $6,000.

Theresa is in constant pain, and it is getting harder for her to do a lot of things many take for granted, such as walking short distances or climbing the steps to their front door. While fighting this relentless battle, Theresa has continued to care for her loving husband, Mark, along with their 12-year-old daughter, and still works full time.

We humbly ask for your help so that Theresa and Mark can meet their insurance deductible, pay some of the medical bills that insurance won’t cover, and upgrade a few things around their home (such as building a ramp to replace the steps) to accommodate Theresa's needs.
