Theresa Lourice Tesico is a dear classmate of ours who has battled Cancer since year 2014 (Stage 2 Breast Cancer). With proper treatment, prayers and support from friends and family, she was able to endure breast cancer.
Theresa wed Aldred in 2018. Cancer has thought Theresa to appreciate the simple things in life. To be able to breathe—to continue living—to marry, with hopes of having her own family someday. For most of us, this is an average accomplishment, but for Theresa—it was a dream come true. The circumstances and magnitude of cancer continue to challenge her daily, but Theresa chose to look at life differently (“what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”).
Unfortunately, Theresa had to undergo another operation and radiation therapy last Oct and Dec 2020 (Chest wall tumor was identified in her body through medical imaging/testing).
On March 7th 2021, Theresa felt numbness on her left leg. She initially thought it was a symptom of arthritis. On March 8th 2021, she felt the same feeling of numbness on her right leg. It persisted and started to crawl up to her abdomen. Theresa knew that there was something wrong and so she immediately headed to the Emergency Room for treatment.
Initial tests and diagnosis from the ER suggests that the said numbness is a manifestation of cancer. Theresa was asked to stay in the hospital for further testing.
Theresa is currently at Makati Medical Center (receiving treatment). The recent MRI suggests that the cancer appear to have metastasize in her bone and spinal cord. At the moment, the hospital bill has already reached Php 300,000.
Theresa had to take a leave of absence to focus on her medical treatments. Aldred’s (Theresa’s husband) employment was significantly impacted by the pandemic. With medical bills piling up, Theresa will definitely need the support of donors in order to continue with treatment.
