Theran Riedel is beloved by his wife Jinny (shown in picture here with Theran), his many friends and family, as well as his many colleagues he has worked with during his impactful atmospheric chemistry career spanning from his Ph.D. work at the University of Washington, to his Postdoctoral work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and more recently, to his independent professional career at the U.S. EPA. Theran has been heroically battling cancer for the last 2 years, and has been living with it as normally as anyone could. The picture taken here was in the summer of 2018 at the World Masters Ultimate Championships. Theran’s team and Jinny’s team won in their divisions and they were the only gold medal couple! This picture was taken just 4 months before his cancer diagnosis, and as Jinny said “it’s crazy to think how someone with that much cancer in his body could just wreck people athletically on the field.” Unfortunately, treatment options for him have ended, and the cancer is growing uncontrolled. Theran and Jinny are positive as ever, but we know they could benefit from having more time together with close family and friends without worrying about time off from work, plane tickets and hotels for family visiting and taking time off from work, and additional medical costs. We are kindly asking on behalf of Jinny and Theran Riedel for donations to help them during this very challenging time. Jinny and Theran are very much loved and are not ones to ask for help.
