Household animals are more than animals, they are 100% family.
Our daughter Theodosia is the best kitty in the whole world. She's just under three years old, and has always had the most absolute biggest heart. She's normally a super playful and hilarious cat, she loves to play fetch. She'll bring back her cat toys and drop it off at our feet and wait for us to throw it again. She waits for us at the door when we get home from work. She snuggles up next to me when she knows I'm sad, and she wouldnt even think about saying no to a good brushing session.
The past few days, we had noticed her starting to get a lack of breath. She just seemed off, and wasnt herself. I instantly called to make a vet appointment for this upcoming monday. This morning when I saw her, there was something just wrong with her, a feeling that I couldnt wait until tomorrow to fix. She was telling me that she needed help, and now. So i didnt even think twice about it. I listened to my kitty and called the emergency Animal Referral Center in Appleton and told them that we are on the way.
The car ride up, she was so calm. Its like she knew we were going to get the help she so desperately needs even though she'd have to conquer her worst fear of the vets office. She put her head against my hands and licked my fingers the whole drive up. We got there and she had to be connected to oxygen immediately.
Doctors said that she has fluid in her lungs, and as they drained it they noticed it started to come back, which means that this isn't just a one-time fix, this is gonna be a life-long process of recovery. (Given that she does recover. They said that she's having a hard time with being sedated.) I can not give up on my baby girl yet. Shes 2 and a half years old and she was just getting started in our lives. She literally improved our lives and brought us so so so much happiness, the least we can do is try to save her now after she saved us. I know in my heart that she's not done fighting just yet, but as you know, vet visits (especially vet emergency visits) get very expensive. If it was under 2k, we could figure something out. Doctor called and said that 2k is probably gonna be the low-end cost of her stay and procedures there.
We've never done a gofundme before, and I'm not sure what to expect. But literally anything at all helps. If you donate or share this you have no idea how appreciative and thankful we are to you. We've discussed this and we will continue vet support until we believe that Theo has fought all that she can. She's so strong and strong-willed, thats how we know she's a real woman. So please. Send all of your love, your thoughts, your prayers, and if you can donate, you'd be helping us so so much. Theo is worth it I swear, and we will keep everyone informed on her recovery process. Thank you. And please pet all of your animals for us. Tell them how much you love them. I know for sure that Theodosia knows how much we love her.
