Hello, my name is Angel Williams-Cave, and I am creating a GoFundMe on behalf of my sister, Thelma Webb, who is battling breast cancer. Thelma is the kindest, most gentle soul you will ever meet. She has helped anyone who needed it. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2024. Her specific diagnosis is invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 1, grade 3. This type of cancer is considered aggressive and is being treated with targeted therapy, which started in December of 2024 due to the cancer's potential to grow and spread quickly.
After several cycles of chemotherapy, Thelma’s white blood cell count and magnesium levels have been depleted, leading to weekly injections and targeted chemotherapy, which leaves her nauseous, with flu-like symptoms, a burning sensation in her limbs, and severe digestive issues.
Due to the aggressive nature of HER2-positive breast cancer, Thelma is required to undergo chemotherapy for 2 years. After 10 cycles (each cycle is 3 weeks), she will have a double mastectomy and then will return to her chemotherapy regimen. She has been able to make ends meet through savings and the help of family, but her funds are running out. She is in desperate need of financial assistance to cover daily living expenses such as rent, electric bills, and transportation to and from the chemotherapy appointments.
While Thelma is trying to go back to work, she is sick more than she is well, and her immune system is severely compromised. Her medical team would prefer she not work, but due to ongoing financial hardships, including the ending of her short-term disability and pending long-term disability (which will cover $200 weekly), she is considering going back to work. Her daughter-in-law and I have applied to multiple charities that assist women with breast cancer, but due to the current state of the country, many of these charities do not have funding or the waiting list is long.
We (her family) are financially and physically helping as much as we can, but everyone is struggling with bills. It is tough enough to be battling cancer, but to be in a financial crisis as well is too much to bare. We aren’t asking for more than you can give, but every little bit helps. If you can find it in your hearts to help her in her time of need, it would be so incredibly appreciated.
