Our dear friend Thelma Macias is facing a tough few months ahead. She was recently diagnosed with a precancerous condition and will be undergoing major preventative surgery in January.
Thelma is a talented hairstylist, devoted mom, and a real social butterfly. When Thelma does your hair, she always makes you laugh, feel beautiful, and you leave her chair a little happier than when you sat down. Her salon suite in Salon Republic is her pride and joy. It’s a true reflection of her personality and a second home to her, me, and many of you.
When Thelma undergoes her hysterectomy surgery early next year, her doctor expects a minimum of six weeks recovery time before she can work again. Although Thelma is positive and handling the news of her health well, the financial impact she faces is becoming a big challenge. As a self-employed stylist, Thelma won’t have paid time off, sick days, or even unemployment benefits to help with expenses while she is without an income. The financial obligation of weekly rental payments to keep her salon suite means she risks having to give up the space she’s built, decorated, and worked so hard for.
We’re raising funds to help Thelma cover her salon rent and other essential expenses while she recovers, so she can focus on healing without the stress of possibly losing her business. Thelma has touched so many lives with her kindness, humor, and care — now it’s our turn to give back to her. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and help her return to doing what she loves most: making people feel confident and beautiful.
Thank you for your generosity, love, and support.
