Hi everyone.
As much as we try to refrain from asking for help, we are in a situation at the moment where we don’t have much of a choice.
As many of you may know, Thea was diagnosed with leukemia just shy of two years ago. With this diagnosis comes a whole lot of complications or risks with her weakened immune system. Thea has been fighting RSV, strep, and ear infections since Christmas. We thought that her health was doing better until recently. Thea has been admitted to the PICU at Dartmouth Hitchcock since January 8th of this month. Since being here, we have found that she has been battling through not only the sicknesses from Christmas but also MRSA, sepsis, pneumonia, impetigo, mucositis-induced oral and internal ulcers, low neutrophils and platelets, and has been febrile for 10 days. She has been on consistent high-flow oxygen support and a wide variety of antibiotics and painkillers just to treat all of these infections and bring comfort. She is finally beginning to be on the mend!
Although, because of these last few weeks of constant hospital stays, we have had to be out of work to care for her here in the hospital and our son at home. We are asking for assistance towards paying some of our bills and necessities that have fallen behind due to this circumstance in order to focus on her healing and care. We appreciate all the love and support from our friends and family through all of the hardships we have experienced with this illness over these past couple of years and are forever grateful.
